Title:  YOUR LEADERSHIP PROFILE NURS 6053

Leadership skills are essential aspects which an effective leader should own. Certainly, most people appointed to leadership posts may lack leadership abilities. The University of the People (n.d.) notes that having an outgoing personality is vital in allowing leaders to take control and coexist with others. This paper tables the outcomes of my uppermost signature themes from finalizing the StrengthsFinder assessment and discusses core values, strengths, and characteristics that I need to improve based on the assessment results.

The uppermost signature themes of fortes that appeared from completing the StrengthsFinder assessment instrument included self-assurance, relator, strategic, responsibility, and restorative. The self-assurance theme assists me to have faith in taking risks and facing challenges, while the relator theme helps me connect with all people. The strategic signature guides me in locating the best itinerary by sorting through the confusion. In contrast, the signature theme of responsibility is vital in guiding me to assume charge in anything I do. Finally, the restorative signature theme is valuable in regurgitating me to resolve challenges.

I would like to rehabilitate the core values of adaptability and understanding. Coping involves learning that problems are part of work (Riley, 2021). Conversely, understanding consists in learning to accept challenges and avoid fighting against the way people are, and the world is (Riley, 2021). Reinforcing these core values will help me to embrace problems.

The strengths that I strive to enhance are delegating and communicating. Delegating roles ensure that the workers’ autonomy is kept (Leading Effectively Staff, 2021). On the other hand, communication is vital in helping a leader relay information and listen efficiently. Communication and delegating are essential in building effectiveness in organizational culture.

YOUR LEADERSHIP PROFILE NURS 6053

The characteristics that I seek to reinforce are self-awareness and situation awareness. Self-awareness pertains to knowing personal strengths and weaknesses, while situation awareness involves knowing what is happening around oneself (IMD, 2021). Understanding oneself and situations allows for better response in the rise of diverse happenings.

Great job Meka! Thank you for sharing the results of the Strength Finders’ Assessment! Based on your discussion there is opportunity to improve your leadership skills! You identify that your key attributes are self-assurance, relator, strategic, responsibility, and restorative. As you consider the proposed improvements in leadership skills, what action steps will be priority in order to achieve your overall goal? Thank you again!

All leaders require skills and behavior to offer quality leadership effectively. However, some skills and behavior might likely be missing, thus hindering effective leadership. I agree that having an outgoing personality is necessary for leaders to take control of others. From your post, the StrenghtsFinder assessment instrument includes responsibility, self-assurance, relator, restorative and relator. In this case, the self-assurance theme is effective in helping one face challenges and take risks. Therefore, self-assurance relates to self-confidence, thus allowing people to have the strength of staking the claims (Faust, 2018). Relator theme is essential in creating a connection with all people. In this way, the relator theme effectively collaborates at the workplace to achieve the same goal.

The strategic signature effectively locates the best itinerary by sorting the confusion. An individual can effectively accomplish the assigned task by implementing the strategic signature, which makes things be accomplished in the best order. The theme of responsibility helps an individual assume charges for anything they do. Lastly, a restorative signature is effective in resolving challenges.

I agree with you that it is essential to rehabilitate understanding and adaptability. In this case, it is necessary to understand that coping requires an individual to understand the intensity of a problem. Additionally, adaptability helps in accepting the challenges, thus avoiding fighting against others (Cleveland Clinic, 2021). Therefore, incorporating the two values helps in embracing the problems.

Delegating and communicating strengths is essential to all individuals and thus requires strengthening. In this way, delegating helps an individual ensure that the workers’ autonomy is well kept. Communication helps create a strong bond and makes a leader rely on the information. I agree that it is necessary to reinforce is situational awareness and self-awareness. Self-awareness helps determine personal strengths and weaknesses, thus creating room for perfecting. Situation awareness creates a chance for an individual to respond better when there is a rise in diversity.

I struggle with delegation a lot. I tend to try to do things myself that way I know it is done how I want it, or per policy. I have some control issues when it comes to that. Another reason I struggle is that I do not like to feel like I am telling someone to do something, or ask for help. Delegating improperly could potentially have a negative effect on patient care, patient outcomes, and expose the delegator to legal issues (Barrow & Sharma, 2021). It is not that I do not trust my co-workers, but there are times when they do things differently than I would have. This variation causes me anxiety and stress because I “own” that patient or situation. The five rights of delegation helps make delegating easier, they are right task, right circumstance, right person, right directions/communication and right supervision/evaluation (Barrow & Sharma, 2021). Do you use these when deciding what to delegate and to who? Tips on becoming better at delegating include, being willing to give up some control, do not look at it negatively, be realistic, provide resources and provide staff advice and affirmation (Williamson, 2018). In order to delegate communication is key. Being able to communicate effectively with staff helps promote mutual respect, allows for successful delegation. When delegating it needs to come out in a precise clear manner and the lines of communication between the leader and the team need to stay open.

Title:  YOUR LEADERSHIP PROFILE NURS 6053

Although appointment to a position does not automatically guarantee good leadership, I believe I have effective traits for a good leader. Leadership behavior is the process that a leader uses to guide and influence the work of others to meet organizational objectives (Ahlquist, 2017). The skills are used as motivation for staff to achieve the vision and mission of an organization. This paper identifies personal leadership, strengths and weaknesses, and its application for motivational engagement.

Decision-making is a primary and core function of a leader. Assume a confident and assertive style of leadership. The staff or employee should have faith and trust in the decisions that the leader makes. The best approach is leading by example (Seemiller, 2017). If you need your employees to reach a certain level of achievement, then as the leader, be able to reach that level too. If you require your staff to stay up too late on work, then as the leader, be able to stay up late with the others as you motivate them.

According to the top 5 signature themes of talent by assessment, it shows that analytical, strategic, adaptable, approachable, and achiever. This shows that there is consistency in the signature themes of talent. Moreover, there are 2 core values that I need to consider and improve. Honesty and consistency in decision-making are the most influential values (Yee et al, 2018).You also need to develop trust from the employee.

Some strengths need to be improved. A developer is a person who brings out the best from others. They cultivate small efforts of improvement and eventually turn them into superpowers in their career. An empathetic leader feels so sorry for the employer and sees the world through your own eyes. Therefore, developing the qualities of a developer and empathy are core to best leadership (Sessa, 2017).

Leadership development is a learning process in career progression. An effective leader should motivate other ad show interest in achieving the objective of the organization. Additionally, there are strengths and weaknesses of a leader. The leader should work on improving the weaknesses and cultivating the strengths for the best performance.

A Sample Answer 5 For the Assignment: YOUR LEADERSHIP PROFILE NURS 6053

Title:  YOUR LEADERSHIP PROFILE NURS 6053

Thanks for sharing this post with us. Very informative. We both have two behaviors in common, Learner and Connectedness. Every worker in an organization requires to grow connection skills. A successful leader leads through authority and connection. It will be a good idea for a leader to develop the leadership skill needed to connect and nurture a connection with his team. No one wants to follow a leader who has weak connection skills, and weak connection skill prevents many leaders from gaining followers. The knowledge of a leader, skills, and organizational culture are the core elements of innovation (Pedraza-Rodríguez et al., 2023).

In order to strengthen the behavior of connectedness, a leader must recognize varying connection needs; it will be a good idea for a leader to learn about the behavior of individuals in the team and tailor his behavior to connect based on what has been learned about the individual in the team. The bond between leader and team member is considered an effective organizational tool (Qalati et al., 2022). In order to strengthen the behavior of connectedness, a leader must be present in a conversation.

Undoubtedly, attention is the oxygen for the relationship to strengthen connectedness. It is imperative that when meeting people, one should endeavor to give them full attention, this will show them you are paying attention, and it also shows a sign of respect. Asking the question in the course of conversation is a sign of respect as well. Showing empathy is a good way of strengthening the behavior of connectedness.

Tone control plays an essential role in connectedness. For example, suppose somebody engages me in a conversation, and the tone lacks respect. In that case, I will automatically put up a wall, and whatever the person says is not sinking in me anymore. Tendering sincere apologies when mistakes occur will also strengthen connectedness. The ability to learn is not a matter of intelligence, and people are not born learners; otherwise, there will not be a justification for getting better at learning. Learners are made. They are not born. We can become expertise if we deliberately practice and strategize to enhance our learning ability.

In order to strengthen one’s skill, one must organize one’s goal, use a targeted approach to learning, reflect on our learning, ask ourself if one understands an idea, understand our goals, inquire if one needs more background knowledge, or more practice are all ways to improve our learning ability. Knowledgeable leaders are essential assets to an organization because, in inspiring employees, good leaders play a vital role (Haider et al., 2022).

Finding what we are good at seems to be our life’s goal especially if we seek happiness in the long run. Gallup’s StrengthFinder Assessment was created to help people recognize their individual strengths in order to be the bet that they could be while working together. When one is able to recognize their individual talents as a leader, they are able to bring it to the table and help increase productivity and morale within an organization (Sutton, 2021). While completing the StrengthsFinder assessment these were my results. My top 5 themes were Achiever, Responsibility, Connectedness, Individualization and Arranger. (Clifton,2021).

As an Achiever being motivated to work diligently and seeing a task through to the end no matter what, is definitely something I do especially at work. Something that I would like to work on within this theme is establishing boundaries.  As mentioned within this description, an achiever may do what needs to be done even if it means that thing or favor will inconvenience them. This is something I need to work on in my professional and personal life. I am always willing to help any and every one when they ask, even if have to end up staying late finishing notes for work, I go above and beyond to help those in need. With responsibility, I interpreted this theme as saying what I mean and meaning what I say. I also agree with the fact that I value honesty and loyalty, for me, “your bond is your word”. I would never let you second guess me being reliable and dependable.

This is also why I need to not be as vulnerable with everyone and also. Understanding that we as humans will let each other down so sometimes its ok to take things for face value because not everyone will appreciate your honesty and not everyone deserves your loyalty. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and nothing happened by “chance”, that is my understanding of Connectedness. I feel like Individualization puts the spotlight on everyone and their unique God given gifts. This theme helps to bring those people together in order to come to one common goal. The last one is Arranger and we in this category love to organize and “figure out how all of the pieces and resources can be arranged for maximum productivity. In other words, how can we get the most from the cards that we are dealt.

One of the main values I would want to improve on would be with in Strategic thinking and being Futuristic. I say this because in my personal life I tend to be a logical person and I need to see the facts right in my face in order to make sense of it all, so this tends to cross over in work life. I think working on this strength would help others on my team trust me and know that I am think ahead and not just about the right now. Goals I want to help set are for us as a whole and for the future. Two strengths that I would love to improve would be learner and maximizer. I chose these two because they weren’t represented in my top 5. I would say that I have a general “passion” for learning but I can use my skills and practices as a foundation to teach other what I know and what I have done in my career and specialty. As a maximizer continue to encourage those around me to strive for better. This is not to necessarily “push” or “force” them but reassure them that they can be excellent and accomplish great things. Two of the characteristics that I would love to improve on are relator and discipline. For me personally, I believe these two would represent the cross between my personal and work life. With the relator, I can create and open space for individuals to come and form trusting and loyal bonds as a team. With the Discipline in my personal life, it would help me to stick with goal I set for myself so that I could be an example for others.

Overall, I see that this assessment was created to help leadership in different organizations organize and set goals, encourage and engage with individuals in order to develop and accomplish success as a team. According to Rath& Conchie (2009) we are not necessarily born to “assume” leadership it must be learned and practiced and this assessment helps to identify leadership strength and how to maximize those strengths in order to build a strong team in the workforce.
