Title: SUMMARY OF CURRENT COURSE CONTENT KNOWLEDGE GCU NRS 428
After reviewing all 5 topics and their objectives, I believe I am somewhat familiar with most of these objects except on the objectives regarding emergency preparedness and disaster management. I have been involved in several projects regarding public health since I did take some public health courses prior to starting nursing school. However, I am not too well informed on week’s 1 – 4 objective, since these public health topics are through the lens of a community health nurse. I am not familiar with the role of a community health nurse and the systems involved in emergency preparedness and disaster management because I have not spent much time working with community health nurses. In fact, the topic of emergency preparedness and disaster management is one of the topics I would like to discuss because I want to gain insight on how to best navigate through these situations, should they occu
Upon reviewing the course syllabus and its various topics, I’ve realized that my knowledge in several of these areas is rather limited. However, one topic that I do have some familiarity with is the concept of social determinants of health and their role in influencing the development of diseases. I’ve encountered this topic in previous courses within this program, although I haven’t delved deeply into the broader field of epidemiology. While I may have a basic understanding of certain other topics, I’m particularly enthusiastic about expanding my knowledge in community and public health. This knowledge is essential for nurses as it equips us to provide valuable education and resources to our patients concerning public health matters.
I find the content within Topic 5, specifically related to disaster management, quite intriguing. Given the recent experience with the COVID-19 pandemic, I believe it’s timely and vital to explore these aspects further. I look forward to engaging in discussions with my classmates to gain insights into disaster preparedness and response. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of being well-prepared and knowledgeable in handling such crises, and I’m eager to learn and contribute to this crucial area of study.
I’m worry with understanding the optimal approach for approaching the community education assignment in week 5. But I cannot wait to explore the relationship between politics and healthcare and how political dynamics directly shape the delivery of healthcare to specific patient groups in our community. Concerning the course logistics.

Title: SUMMARY OF CURRENT COURSE CONTENT KNOWLEDGE GCU NRS 428
After looking through all of the topics that this class is focusing on, I don’t think I have a very good knowledge of many of these topics. One topic I am more familiar with is social determinants of health and how they contribute to the development of diseases. I learned this most from previous courses in this program, but haven’t fully gone into depth as far as having a full concept of epidemiology. I may have a little it of overall knowledge about some of these topics, but I am excited to learn more about community and public health especially because I think it is so important as nurses to understand these in order to provide education to our patients as far as resources when it comes to public health.
I think that topic 5 has some interesting topics regarding disaster management and I am excited to discuss those with my classmates and get more of an insight into becoming more prepared. I think having gone through COVID-19 recently, it is a relevant topic and something that I never really thought about too much until I lived through a pandemic. I wasn’t a nurse at the time, but I was in nursing school and I think that it is super important to understand disaster planning.
As with any course, I am most worried about time management and submitting assignments on time. I have struggled through the courses just due to my work schedule and so that it something that I need to focus on a little better and prepare myself better for. The topics all seem very interesting though and I am excited to learn from all my peers.
