Describe the social psychological theories of attraction you see reflected in online dating profiles like this one.
The social psychological theory of attraction common in online dating profiles is the interpersonal attraction between individuals, which prompts the advancement of the connections created. Theories of social attraction conclude that physical attractiveness is the primary component in interpersonal attraction, and that explains why most active profiles in online dating platforms tend to bear attractive photos. In contrast, the profiles without photos do not usually get a lot of traffic (Toma, 2015). When physical attractiveness is confirmed, the parties feel comfortable enough to continue pursuing the relationship, while faceless online profiles do not get as much attention or response.
Describe at least three concepts related to mating and attraction that are used in online dating profiles.

In most dating profiles, people are likely to make their choices based on physical attractiveness, as alleged by the photos posted

on the profile. Once the initial connection has been made, other concepts that follow are compatibility and reciprocity. The parties investigate their level of compatibility. Compatibility, in this instance, relates to the virtues that a person could be looking for in the dating platforms. Reciprocity, on the other hand, is where a person tends to like those who like them and vice versa (Finkel & Eastwick, 2015).
Reflect on the choices you made in completing this profile. Why did you make the choices you did?
On completing this profile, the choices I made were based on the fact that in online dating platforms, people do not know each other and do not get to meet in person. Therefore, the initial physical attraction is made solely on the profile pictures that have been provided. After the initial physical attraction, compatibility checks follow based on the information provided by each party on their profiles (Park, Young & Eastwick, 2015). This is unlike physical dating, where parties get to see and assess each other in realtime.
