Developing mission and vision statements in nursing needs effective reflection on the
intrinsic purpose in life. My mission and vision statement as a nurse leader is to model leadership
by example and enhance the emotional intelligence of others around me, especially subordinates
in the workplace. I believe that inspiring and motivating others to develop and attain their
potential allows leaders to succeed. Nurse leaders can demonstrate empathy to their subordinates
who translate the same to patients in care delivery. Through these aspects, nurses and other
providers create and maintain health work environment and achieve excellent care outcomes
while meeting organizational and team members’ needs. Imperatively, deployment of proper
skills in leadership and proficiency management of scarce resources in health promotion and
holistic care is critical and an essential part of my overall mission in nursing.
