Management and Leadership<\/a> are critical for the delivery of good healthcare services. Although the two are akin in particular respects, they comprise divergent types of worldview, expertise, and character. Good managers need to strive to be good leaders, and good leaders need managerial expertise to be effective (Naseri, 2021). The purpose of the essay seeks to compare the difference between Leadership and management, the role of Leadership, and whether all nurses are leaders in the light of nursing theory.<\/p>\n

The Difference Between Leadership and Management<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Leaders possess a vision of what needs to be realized and then relay it to others and initiate strategies for realizing the dream. They motivate staff members and can negotiate for resources and other support to achieve their vision (Mascare\u00f1o et al., 2020). Leadership happens when an individual attempts to influence the behavior of an individual or group vertically or horizontally (Naseri, 2021). On the other hand, managers are also leaders in their own right; however, their work in management majors on the realization of organizational goals in the long term. Managers ensure the available resources are well organized and utilized to avail the best outcome in the regular duties. Leadership is a multi-directional influence concomitant, but management is a unidirectional authority relationship. Moreover, Leadership plays the role of motivation and inspiration; they strive to create a passion for following their vision to reach long-term goals by taking risks to realize shared goals.<\/p>\n

All Nurses Leaders<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Under the lenses of the nurse profession, all nurses may be considered leaders. According to the Environmental Theory by Florence Nightingale, they show Leadership by acting to utilize the patient’s environment to assist them in recovery. The nurse leader and manager have a leadership role in configuring environmental settings necessary for restoring the patient’s health and the external factors (Wood, 2021). Leadership is a broader concept compared with management in the light of nursing practice. While managers are also leaders in their own right, their role as managers focus on attaining organizational goals. On the other hand, Leadership occurs when an individual attempts to influence the behavior of an individual or group vertically or horizontally in an organization for whatever reason.<\/p>\n

Your initial discussion post should be a minimum of 200 words and response posts should be a minimum of 150 words. Be advised that I grade based on quality and not necessarily the number of words you post. A minimum of TWO references should be used for your initial post. For your response post, you do not need references as personal experiences would count as response posts. If you however cite anything from the literature for your response post, it is required that you cite your reference. You should include a minimum of THREE references for papers in this course. Please note that references should be no more than 5 years old except recommended as a resource for the class. Furthermore, for each discussion board question, you need ONE initial substantive response and TWO substantive responses to either your classmates or your instructor for a total of THREE responses. There are TWO discussion questions each week, hence, you need a total minimum of SIX discussion posts for each week. I usually post a discussion question each week. You could also respond to these as it would count towards your required SIX discussion posts for the week.<\/p>\n

I understand this is a lot of information to cover in 5 weeks, however, the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us.
