I have identified and secured the participation of the following academic (at least two) and professional (at least two) individuals and/or teams to form the basis of my network. This network will help me to clarify my vision for success and will help guide me now and in the future.

Directions: Complete the information below for each member of your network. For more than four entries repeat the items below with details of your additional network member(s) in the ‘ADDITIONAL NETWORK MEMBERS’ section.

When nursing students begin college, they are typically gray in many areas, and professional knowledge develops as they learn concepts in their respective fields and network with peers. Academic and professional support are required for nurses to successfully complete degrees. Professional collaboration increases this support. Interprofessional collaboration is essential in nursing because it allows nurses to interact socially and professionally while working in groups (Moss et al., 2016). It promotes the exchange of information and resources. Networking broadens one’s sphere of influence. Professional networking, according to Goolsby and Knestrick (2017), allows nurses to communicate with people who share their interests and experiences. It creates new opportunities by fostering collaboration. Interdisciplinary networking, according to Khanum et al. (2016), provides nurses with contacts for personal growth and for developing contacts that help them become better providers of patient care. This section of my strategy describes the academic and professional resources that I believe will be beneficial to my nursing program.

Nursing is one of the most intriguing professions in the health industry but students enrolling in the career are usually baffled by what they might expect when pursuing the course. Often, nursing students lack adequate information about the profession in their early instances of learning but as they progress in studies, they acquire additional information and guidance regarding the career (Roodbol & Peters, 2020). In order for nurses to successfully complete their program, they need academic and professional support. These provide avenue for professional interaction and networking to enhance knowledge sharing in the course of studies (Mesquita et al., 2017). As I transition to graduate students, I have also realized the benefits of academic and professional support as a way to optimize interactions for my future career as a family nurse practitioner. In this regard, this paper will help me organize my thoughts by enumerating academic and professional networks who will not only lay a foundation for my studies but also enhance my nursing

I have identified the following academic resources and/or strategies that can be applied to success in the nursing practice in general or my specialty in particular.

Directions: In the space below Identify and describe at least three academic resources or strategies that can be applied to the MSN program, and at least three professional resources that can be applied to success in the nursing practice in general or your specialty in particular. For each, explain how you intend to use these resources, and how they might benefit you academically and professionally.

Going through the syllabuses on time to get acquainted to the activities, course outline and the due dates will help one to plan ahead of time and hence result in being successful in this course.

Exploring the online classroom is another academic strategy to being successful in this course. When one explores and locates where discussions and assignments are to be submitted and also understand where and who to call for assistance on any course, it eases frustration of not getting things right.

Participating actively in the discussion classroom will give the learner an opportunity to see things from other people view and aid better understanding. Some people understand things better when explained to them by their peers.

Establishing a relationship with course mates will help build a support system where any member can ask questions when in doubt of any course content, what one leaner don’t understand, another leaner might have a better understanding about it, hence the need to build a strong support system.

Asking questions when in doubt helps not just the individual asking the question but other colleagues in the classroom wo might have same concern will benefit from it.

Advanced communication skills to promote relationships between patients and nurses. It can be improved by open discussion in classroom and it also improves outcome of patient care.

I have analyzed the relationship between academic integrity and writing, as well as the relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics. I have also identified strategies I intend to pursue to maintain integrity and ethics of my academic work while a student of the MSN program, as well as my professional work as a nurse throughout my career. The results of these efforts are shared below.

Directions: In the space below craft your analysis/writing sample, including Part 1 (The Connection Between Academic and Professional Integrity) and Part 2 (Strategies for Maintaining Integrity of Work).

In the space below write a 2- 3-paragraph analysis that includes the following:

There is a relationship between academic and professional integrity as integrity is a core value of educational institutions (Tauginienė 2016). Integrity in academics as it sounds entails the application of one’s ideas and properly referencing work done by others. There are lots of papers to write in the course of this MSN as we are made to write on generally everything about life and if we don’t read research and articles from others its difficult to progress, hence we need to acknowledge the work done by others, anything short of that standard is regarded as plagiarism (Marsh, 2018). As professional nurses, we cant but learn to be honest in all we do as any attempt to follow shortcut might lead to loss of life as we deal with human life. Being compliant with academic integrity grooms us to practice and render ethical nursing services to our clients (Grace, 2018).

There are couple of tools available to help minimize plagiarism and reduce errors in writing to uphold academic integrity which are Safe Assign which checks the rate of similarity while tolls like Grammerly helps ensure we use correct English words to write standard papers. Also using tools like Paraphrasing and citing properly helps minize plagiarism and uphold integrity in academics (Calonia, 2019).

Expand on your thoughts from Part 1 by:

I have taken some personal decisions to uphold academic integrity through ensuring that I read and abide to the requirements for the course, check for plagiarism before submission and ensure I carry out proper citations and most importantly engage in team work and networking who have a better experience and be able to guide me in avoiding mistakes (Aureus Medical Group, 2020).

I have identified one topic of interest for further study. I have researched and identified one peer-reviewed research article focused on this topic and have analyzed this article. The results of these efforts are shared below.

Directions: Complete Step 1 by using the table and subsequent space below identify and analyze the research article you have selected. Complete Step 2 by summarizing in 2-3 paragraphs the results of your analysis using the space identified.

Complete the table below

One or more professional practice uses of the theories/concepts presented in the article

Add more rows if necessary

Craft a summary (2-3 paragraph) below that includes the following:

There are various techniques that I always consider to identify and analyze my preferred article. Firstly, I check whether the author is a scholar by looking at the academic credentials such as advanced degree, master’s degree or a PhD. Secondly, I have to conduct a thorough survey by understanding what the journal is all about and its targeted audience. Thirdly, it is about checking on the structure of the journal and then determining if it is a clear structure to indicate a scientific research study. For example, the abstract is relatively followed by the heading that shows the study’s design, purpose and discussion of findings. Lastly, it entails determining how the article is written by checking the formal language, professional jargon and its simple indicating a popular source.

There are various strategies at my disposal on finding a peer reviewed research article. First, it entails the use of expression search. It involves using double quotes on a phrase to join the words together. For instance, “STI prevention”. Secondly, it is about truncating words. This involves shortening of words and then finding the substitute endings of word. I can also use the word “Furthermore” to consolidate my search ideas.

Resources such as Walden library with “CINAHL Plus with Full Text” Database which has great nursing and medically related contents that are reliable, also resources like web of science, Scholastic Search Ultimate and MLA International Bibliography help and support information are vital resources in finding peer reviewed research articles (Kulczycki et al., 2019). For instance, the web of science creates a list of diary articles, informational indexes, meeting procedures and different assets in technical disciplines, expressions, sociology and humanities

I have developed a curriculum vitae to capture my academic and professional accomplishments to date.

The results of my efforts are below.

Directions: Complete Step a curriculum vitae (CV) in the space provided.

Am a dedicated registered nurse and United Nations Volunteer nurse with over 10 years of experience in advocating for patients, assessing patient health problems, maintaining health records, and executing evidence based nursing care plan.

I have all through my nursing career experience collaborated with primary care providers and other health care providers to ensure continuity, timeliness and appropriateness of care to patients.

I have been part of team that brainstormed and formulated policies that helped reduce incidence of catheter associated urinary tract infections at my nursing home work place with the following plans;

This accounted for about 40% of all nosocomial acquired infections annually and that policy benefited the patients and the insurance companies as the cost of extended hospital was reduced due to infection.

I have also been part of a team that ensured at my psychiatric job setting that verbal de-escalation process is utilized to reduce cases of physical or chemical restrain which ought to be the last resort if verbal de-escalation fails.

Hence am pursuing my career to become a mental health nurse Practitioner at Walden University so as to advocate more for mental health patients through policies at the local and federal level. I developed the passion to assist this patient population get of their addictive state and behavioral issues through use of Dialectical behavior therapy ((DDT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy that began with efforts to treat borderline personality disorder which I think if maintained and encouraged in any mental health facility will yield positive results especially with the complications that comes with addiction like suicidal ideation.

Use the space below to identify and examine one professional organization related to your selected or preferred specialty.
