I started my graduate education for MSN-FNP in July 2019 at Chamberlain University, attaining over half of the required credits, until the pandemic restrictions made finding preceptors difficult. I took a break from school until the water settled, so to speak. In the interim, I achieved the educational requirements necessary to take my board certification for Holistic nursing and acquired my HNB-BC in March 2023. Transferring many of my graduate credits to Walden University made continuing my education a conceivable goal.

Throughout my career I have been immensely focused on providing patient-centered holistic care. I have found it lacking in many hospital settings, reflected in units that are chronically understaffed, nurse to patient ratios at critical levels, thus leaving nurses feeling burned out and patients not receiving well rounded holistic care. Walden University endeavors to facilitate constructive outcomes that can benefit healthcare professionals, and in turn, the patients they serve.

Walden University promotes the vision, mission, and goal of educating effectors of positive change in their areas of influence and beyond. These values are beneficial, not only in my academic studies in the MSN-FNP program and my professional goal of having a holistic integrative wellness clinic, but also to the rural areas that comprise much of my home in WV. The mission of Walden University is congruent with my goals of practicing in rural, underserved areas and promoting positive, effective change for the greater good of individuals and communities (Walden University, 2023).

The Walden University MSN-FNP program outcomes align with my academic and professional objectives, critique and utilization of evidence-based practices, and ethical nursing concepts (Walden University, 2023). In my pursuit to become a scholar-practitioner, I recognize that learning and education is a lifelong venture, as information, technology, and individuals are in a constant flux of change.

Networking is beneficial to establishing assistance in academic and professional growth and advancement. Forming a basis where interdisciplinary collaboration flourishes can be achieved through many diverse approaches, including face-to-face interactions, social media platforms, nursing organization membership, or becoming involved with workplace committees driving constructive change and policies (Wofford, 2018). Mentorship and learning through precepting, observing, and effectively communicating with colleagues in similar professional fields can inspire curiosity that leads to a myriad of possibilities to further
