Ethical and Professional Dilemmas

Change processes are common in different organizations. In the healthcare settings, changes are always carried out to ensure quality improvement processes. Changes are always initiated based on the research outcomes. Changes are essential in the healthcare system because they lead to the transformation of healthcare processes which in turn lead to the delivery of quality treatment and general care. Health institutions involved in the continuous change processes often ensure effective patient outcomes and improvement in the quality of care. There are different problems associated with healthcare delivery processes (Mancini et al., 2017). These problems can be solved through introducing changes in different departments. Change processes require effective, experienced, and skilled change leaders who ought to adhere to the required standards of operation.

During the change process, there are ethical and professional dilemmas often faced by the change leaders. These dilemmas should always be solved to ensure effective outcomes in the change process. One of the ethical dilemma that can be faced by nurse leaders is the consideration of patient’s values and at the same time initiating the transformations processes. In most cases, healthcare professionals are required to maintain high level of ethics, they are required to be part of the treatment processes. Therefore, during the change processes, there is the need to involve patients, the community, as well as other stakeholders associated with the organization. However, nurse leaders may sometimes finds it very difficult to incorporate patients.
