This post could cross over into our other course Transition to Graduate Study for Nursing where the discussion of leadership is broached in making change. When we work for a large health corporation it is easy to just follow the predetermined processes and not question them. After some reflection I feel the best way to assist in policy change could be to start small in our own backyards. For example; company policy regarding protocols for documentation related to patient decline like in hospice. There are many different ways of charting but many companies/corporations want it done in an exact way; feedback from nurses who are on the frontlines may actually change minds. Of course this would spur a great discussion.

An active role in education regarding policy and listening to my colleagues concerns and new ideas would be a great collaborative group.
