The APA format of writing provides a standard form of writing among Nursing professionals at the graduate and doctoral levels. Adherence to the APA checklist has been a challenging learning experience but it has helped to avoid plagiarism errors and provided a more professional tone to my writing. I have learned that the title page is centered and double-spaced, including the blank lines left at the top before the title. Information such as the student’s name, the course title, and the instructor’s name should be written below in descending order using the standard font. I have also learned that the references should start on a new page with the title “References,” a section label hanging indented, double spaced, and authors should be alphabetized in descending order. Checklists serve as reminders to reinforce knowledge and skills. In general, I have been able to meet the checklist’s standard, despite a few areas where I need to improve. I sometimes forget that if there are more than three authors, I must use et al.
Citation mechanisms are one such area that I need to improve. Although I have improved on the fundamentals of APA in-text citations, I still make some minor errors when determining when to use (Grand Canyon University, 2022) where the date is unavailable. I sometimes make mistakes when citing journal articles on the reference page. I often forget to include the volume and issue number on a few occasions. Practicing and getting feedback has definitely helped me improve at this.

I have improved my writing skills and familiarized myself with details of the AP style, thanks to the vital feedback from my instructors and the dynamic utilization of the APA writing checklist. Initially, I experienced challenges with APA formatting, but as I progressed through my studies, I started improving (LibGuides, n.d). In addition, one component that benefited me is the proper referencing and citation of peer-reviewed articles. In thoroughly reviewing the APA checklist, I could avoid simple errors and hinder the deduction of points in my papers. Nevertheless, like many other students, I still have difficulties citing book resources (LibGuides, n.d). As a largely evidence-based field, I mainly depend on peer-reviewed articles for my research, so I use books on rare occasions; hence, referencing and citing books is infrequent. Moreover, to address my challenge, I plan to examine the Student Success Center resources and seek guidance on referencing and citing books in APA format (Streefkerk, 2022). I believe gaining this knowledge will be vital in improving the depth and breadth of my research in the future. Furthermore, reflecting on my journey, I now deeply understand the significance of professional writing in my career. As an APRN, I participate in research, writing grant proposals, and even policy development, and they all demand concise and clear communication. Embracing the APA style has equipped me with skills to present my ideas in an evidence-based and organized manner, further identifying my professionalism in healthcare (Streefkerk, 2022). Lastly, in sharing my experience with others, I can say I have become a mentor to some of my colleagues in our program, as I help them with APA writing difficulties. Seeing their increased confidence and growth brings me joy and satisfaction. Draft of the Presentation
The presentation will comprise of 12 slides to provide the context of the project. The first slide is an introduction to provide a brief about what will be discussed (Hoffmann et al., 2014). Slide two addresses obesity as a health issue relevant to the project. The third slide highlights about the Latin-American children as the target population. Slide four provides insights on the selected health facility by analyzing the organizational readiness with regard to the project.
