Topic 3 DQ 1
Description:
Describe an organizational change model that can be used in a dynamic health care environment. Based on this model, how is organizational change is managed? What role do stakeholders play during organizational change?
A wide variety of organizational change models can be utilized to structure a business and, in turn, influence its operations and results. Models can be used to direct health promotion and disease prevention initiatives. These frameworks can describe and predict how people’s health-related habits change over time.
Lewin’s Change Theory is a three-step model based on the premise that behavior is a dynamic balance of forces working in opposition. To facilitate change by pushing employees in the desired direction and inhibiting forces hamper change because they make employees in the opposite direction. Lewin’s three-stage change framework can be used as one of the change models. This model is a three-step procedure for analyzing the organizational environment’s change process and devising strategies for challenging the status quo in order to create meaningful transformation. The paradigm suggests that group actions will dictate how an individual responds to the proposed change. Leaders, it follows, need to see members’ actions as a barometer of how their teams feel about the proposed transformation if they want to see any real results (Hussain et al., 2018). The model’s three steps of transformation are unfreezing, change process, and refreezing. When unfreezing a company, it is important to communicate with employees about the upcoming changes and gain their buy-in and support. The second step is to put the plan into action through communication and strong leadership. The third phase, “refreezing,” is when the modified elements of the organization’s culture are fully embedded through persistent application and, if necessary, course corrections.
Stakeholder management is a powerful tool used by successful people to get the support of others. Stakeholder management is an essential skill that can help save your projects from failure. Your projects have staunch advocates in the form of stakeholders, who may also act as roadblocks. Therefore, it is essential to identify your stakeholders and quickly gain their support.

Topic 3 DQ 2
Description:
You have been selected to serve on a community outreach committee within your state’s nursing organization. The committee includes registered nurses of different specialties. At your first meeting, it becomes evident that not everyone is in agreement with a recent position statement about the role of spiritual care, with some members arguing they will no longer support the committee if the position statement is not revised or reversed. As a nurse leader and change agent, how would you approach the committee? How could you draw from change theory to address these concerns and encourage collaboration on the committee?
DQ2
Resistance to change is a common encounter when managing change in an organization. Therefore, nurse leaders must employ strategies to manage resistance to change because such resistance can cripple change efforts. In this scenario, the committee in in dispute because a section of the members does not agree with a revised position statement in spiritual care. I would approach this issue with using a mediation strategy to first address the conflict, then bring everybody on board to embrace and support the new changes. Solving the conflict requires bringing the differing groups and letting them share their points of views and feelings regarding the changes (Nilsen et al., 2020). From this facilitation, it would be possible to understand why the opposing side is against the position statement. For change to be effective, all the stakeholders’ interests and diverse views must be incorporated in the proposed change goals. After understanding the reasons for the dispute, I would communicate the rationale behind the proposed change to enable understanding why it is necessary to embrace it. In most cases, people resist change because of miscommunication or misconception on the benefits of the change.
I would use Kotter’s change management model principles to influence change acceptance and promote collaboration by all the stakeholders (Rousseaua & Have, 2022). For example, I would openly communicate the change by creating an urgency because it is needed and the potential benefits of the change. I would also promote participation and engagement of the stakeholders in the change process from planning to execution because are more likely to support initiatives that they are involved in creating. I would also involve other key leadership in the change process to enhance the validity of change and influence other people to embrace change (Cleary et al., 2019). Furthermore, as a leader, I would remain positive and supportive of the staff and other people involved in the change process to inspire engagement and collaboration.
