The population that I think I would be serving as an APRN would be vulnerable to issues of health disparity/inequity. The population that I think I would be serving is the chronic ill and disabled. People with disease that are chronic are at a bigger risk of having negative outcomes, and they are at higher risk of using healthcare dollars, than the healthier population. The chronically ill or disabled population is two times more likely to have sick days than the general population (Joszt, 2020). The chronically ill and the disabled need the healthcare system, but with their disabilities, they may have little knowledge of accessing healthcare. These vulnerable populations may have many challenges in getting healthcare. The population with disabilities and chronic illness are at higher risk for developing illnesses such as dementia, depression, asthma, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and poor oral health, which would cause them to require more healthcare resources (World Health Organization, 2023). Some of the disparities arise from a lack of resources like transportation, poverty, prohibition of education, and employment.
As a nurse practitioner, you could work in the health department in rural areas. As nurse practitioners, they could advocate to stakeholders at the local, state, and national levels to bring awareness to this population to bring opportunities that provide this population with resources that could increase positive healthcare outcomes. Nurse Practitioners could get them set up with public transportation or services that provide transportation to doctor appointments. As an APRN they could get community support to bring health fairs that has cholesterol checks, diabetes checks, and give out education on stroke and other health care issues.
This healthcare promotion aligns with Christianity that we can do good and provide them with love, caring, and resources for the less fortunate. We could involve the members of the church to bring the community together to help provide spiritual support, food, as well as their time to help this vulnerable population.

You have a great response and input role as an APRN. As an Advanced Practice Nurse, I will strive to impact health promotion and
disease prevention in racial and ethnic minorities, especially from rural areas in the community. I will work towards addressing cultural differences between patients and healthcare providers that can result in holistic care to diagnose and treat patients while improving the patient’s compliance.
Holistic care includes treating patients’ physical, mental, and cultural or ethnic parts of their health (cultural sensitivity) through awareness of patients’ differences that exist without assigning value to them (Tucker et al., 2019).

This Bible verse related to my life because when I had obstacles immigrating to this country I never gave up, I seek and tried to pass those obstacles. I failed many times, and I already knew this Bible verse. So, it gave me strength and courage and I believed that God would help me to reach my goal. God always sees our challenging work and struggles but it is not necessary to get the answer right away if you wait and try increasingly, you will find the way. Thank You.
My choice to return to school and pursue my Master’s degree was prompted by my desire to do more for the health and healing of people of all ages. While I know that I have an impact on patients’ lives in my current role as a bedside nurse, I feel a responsibility to do more and contribute to improving our health care system as a whole. I take motivation from Phillipians 2:4, “Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others”. This is one of my favorite verse from the Bible and I find my self reciting it daily in my head and out loud at times for it gave me confidence and assurance that everything will be ok no matter what the situation is. Coming to America with no family or close relatives to rely on was full of heartache and disappointment . Had to fend for myself as best as I possible could. Eventually with many nights of prayers I got settled and went back to school to peruse a new career path in nursing. Working full time, going to school and balancing a family with three small children was no easy task with much trials and tribulations i graduated from nursing school. Soon after graduation i began working in the emergency room as a brand new nurse it was very challenging however i was able to over come all obstacles just by believing I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Growing up as a catholic I have been taught bible verses and it did give me strength when I am weak. I have strong faith in the lord and I believe all obstacles I can overcome. Though this is the start of my journey of becoming a nurse practitioner, I can achieve and finish what I have started with God as the center of my education. This Bible verse is valuable to me throughout my schooling process. This is important because regardless of how much prior experience and knowledge that you may have, there is still much more to learn. I consider myself to be a life-long learner, so this is very relevant to my life. In March,2020 during the pandemic my administrator decided to pay in full my tuition where I collected my BSN in October,2021. Then in July I spoke with my counselor who guided me through when I was undecided to register for my MSN . Finally with faith and prayers here I’m navigating myself in the program . Health disparities are variations in health outcomes that are strongly associated with environmental, social, and economic deprivation and are frequently influenced by the social settings in which people live, learn, work, and play.
In my opinion, as an advanced registered nurse, the senior population is more susceptible to problems related to health disparity and inequality. Chronic conditions such as Pressure injury, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiac disease are common in this population and can hurt overall health and quality of life. Health disparities may be made worse for the elderly population by additional obstacles such as social isolation, financial hardships, and difficulty accessing healthcare.
My job as a critical care nurse is to prevent hospital-acquired diseases and to promote health with minimal use of supportive aids, like ventilators, dialysis machines etc, among the senior population. This involves performing thorough evaluations, generating appropriate care plans, and educating patients and their families on how to stay healthy and manage infections. I could contribute to enhancing the health conditions and reducing health disparities for this susceptible population by focusing on illness prevention and health promotion.
In conclusion, I can lessen health inequalities and enhance the general health and welfare of this group. This is in line with the Christian worldview, which emphasizes the need to use education and care for the sick and vulnerable to advance societal welfare.
