Discussion Question/Prompt
One of your patients is a 5 year old boy who was diagnosed with leukemia 3 months ago. Although he is receiving excellent care by a pediatric hematologist/oncologist, his parents trust you since you have taken care of him since he was born. They are very anxious and have many questions
- Explain which type of leukemia he is most likely to have, its pathophysiology, how he contracted it, and his prognosis.
- Discuss treatment options for this child with your colleagues.
- Include how you will teach the parents about their role in his care.
- Cite current research findings, national guidelines, and expert opinions and controversies found in the medical and nursing literature to support your position.
Discussion Peer/Participation Prompt
Please respond to at least 2 of your peer’s posts. To ensure that your responses are substantive, use at least three of these prompts:
- Comment on at least 2 peer responses and suggest alternative treatment options to those presented.
- Take an opposing view to a peer and present a logical argument supporting the opposite opinion.
- Share your thoughts on how you support their opinion and explain why.
- Present new references that support your opinions.
Please be sure to validate your opinions and ideas with citations and references in APA format.
