As professor Smitri noted (2020), plagiarism is the violation of someones else’s work and is essentially theft. If we carry this kind of behavior from our academics to our professional field it is a direct pattern of something that we have normalized in our behavior. As nurses we need for our patients to trust us but not only our patients but our colleagues as well. For example in my line of field of aesthetic medicine. When I draw botox to administer to my patients they need to trust me that I am injecting the amount of units they purchased. Not only do I do right by the patient I also have to do right by the practice and administer record, and chart the amount of units I have administered. I have to make sure that on my end I have been honest to both the patient and the practice because if I am not that is theft. If I took someones work and didn’t give them credit and site it is the same as if I didn’t chart or administer the right amount of neuromodulator the patient and practice both intended to have.

Ethical behaviors in academics can be translated into nursing practice by reinforcing a culture of professionalism, honesty, and integrity. I believe nursing students should be taught to conduct themselves morally and veer away from any form of academic misconduct that involves but not limited to plagiarism or cheating. The mere thought of being involved in ethical behaviors in academics can help develop critical thinking skills, which are necessary for honest decision-making in patient care. Maintaining academic integrity reflects positively on any professional and it will encourage dedication to honorable practices.

Consequently, a lack of academic integrity can reflect poorly on a nurse’s professionalism and credibility which in turn will affect the ability to provide quality patient care. A study by Smedley et al. (2018) found that nursing students who engage in academic misconduct are more likely to engage in unprofessional behaviors during their clinical placements. Another study by Newton et al. (2016) found that nursing students who cheat in their academic work are more likely to engage in unsafe medication practices during clinical placements.

A culture of academic integrity can also improve patient safety and trust in healthcare professionals. Nurses who have a strong moral compass develop better foundations and are better equipped to handle many types of dilemmas in patient care. As a result, it is essential to promote and uphold righteous behaviors in both academics and nursing practice to ensure high-quality patient care and professionalism.

Sometimes, in life we may be tempted to take shortcuts or use easier means to meet deadlines and reduce workload but as students,mothers and nursing professionals doing what is ethically right makes a huge difference. I was rather enlightened today after reading those resources about  plagiarism and realizing that I may have offended authors in the past through my ignorance on this matter . Plagiarism is the use of another’s words or ideas without clear identification of the source (Price, 2014). This can be intentional or unintentional.  Intentional plagiarism involves a person who knowingly copied the work of another individual and purposefully omitted credit to the original author to take credit for the ideas. Unintentional plagiarism usually involves ignorance and poor writing, paraphrasing, and referencing skills (de Souza, 2016).

Plagiarism is a very serious academic offense (Prentice,2004,p.7). As a student, reusing someone’s ideas and making it your own is basically cheating and may result in probation, getting no credit or even expulsion from the institution. Being in the nursing profession, I oathed to practice within my scope of practice and by practicing what is ethically right for thus improving patient outcomes. Therefore, I personally believe that plagiarism should be avoided at all costs because it can harm the integrity and lives of others that we care for and at large the reputation of this educational institution . Nursing practice is solely based on evidence based practice from research and valuable sources such as my nursing textbooks . According to A,Smriti 2020, Nurses are supposed to be the most trusted professionals today. Upholding values and standards of academic integrity is foundational if nurses are to sustain this trust. There is a wealth of knowledge and incredible resources available on the GCU student access to develop my APA writing substantially such as the online library. What factors need to be considered when determining whether or not identified actions are within the domain of nursing practice? Be sure to cite current literature in your response. You have been asked to investigate a new procedure that physicians would like nurses to adopt in the hospital. Discuss the process you would apply to determine whether the procedure falls within the RN scope of practice and how you would go about introducing the new procedure with physicians and fellow nurses. Outline the process for developing nursing standards of practice, and identify the different entities that might be involved in developing a standard of practice.

Learning happens slowly and consistently. Take for example the process we went through when we learned to read. There were steps, from holding a book the right way up, to recognising letters to phonetics, years of practising and finally fluency.

It’s not actually that hard to learn to read for neurotypical kids, but you do have to develop building blocks and commit to regular practise. It is the willingness to practise that contributes to success as a student.

Consistency is becoming less common in adolescents. Some of the areas most affected by teens’ lack of consistency are mathematics, music and languages. In each of these areas, there needs to be a mastery of some basic skills that only comes with practise. Failure is one of the greatest tools in the learning process. Unfortunately, too many people are simply overwhelmed by the feeling of failure rather than being able to stand back and look at the lessons it can teach us. Having the tenacity to stare down failure is an extraordinary skill.

Teach kids to look at failure in an analytical way. What is the size and gravity of the failure? What are its consequences? What can be learnt from the experience? Goal setting focuses a student’s attention towards certain behaviours and information and away from distractions. Research tells us that incremental goals are far more effective than large goals.

If a student is able to break down a big goal, like solving a big problem, innovating or achieving a higher grade, into small bite-sized pieces they are more likely to be successful. If they can incorporate the feedback they receive on each occasion, the small wins eventually lead to big achievements.

Discuss how evidence-based practice is applied in your practice setting and describe the desired patient outcome achieved through this approach. Explain the value that professional nursing organizations in networking and in the legislative process. Provide a rationale for your response.

I strongly encourage that you do not wait until the very last minute to complete your assignments. Your assignments in weeks 4 and 5 require early planning as you would need to present a teaching plan and interview a community health provider. I advise you look at the requirements for these assignments at the beginning of the course and plan accordingly. I have posted the YouTube link that explains all the class assignments in detail. It is required that you watch this 32-minute video as the assignments from week 3 through 5 require that you follow the instructions to the letter to succeed. Failure to complete these assignments according to instructions might lead to a zero. Your initial discussion post should be a minimum of 200 words and response posts should be a minimum of 150 words. Be advised that I grade based on quality and not necessarily the number of words you post. A minimum of TWO references should be used for your initial post. For your response post, you do not need references as personal experiences would count as response posts. If you however cite anything from the literature for your response post, it is required that you cite your reference. You should include a minimum of THREE references for papers in this course. Please note that references should be no more than 5 years old except recommended as a resource for the class. Furthermore, for each discussion board question, you need ONE initial substantive response and TWO substantive responses to either your classmates or your instructor for a total of THREE responses. There are TWO discussion questions each week, hence, you need a total minimum of SIX discussion posts for each week. I usually post a discussion question each week. You could also respond to these as it would count towards your required SIX discussion posts for the week.

I understand this is a lot of information to cover in 5 weeks, however, the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us.
