Healthcare teams can use the information from root cause analysis to identify system and process issues that must be addressed to prevent the occurrence of similar incidences in the future. Root cause analysis also helps health organizations to streamline their systems and processes to influence outcomes. Organizations can identify bottlenecks from the root cause analysis and adopt responsive strategies to improve performance and competitiveness (Stanley et al., 2022). Root cause analysis mitigates risk by ensuring the organization remains ahead in preventing factors that increase the potential of adverse events in the organization. It also streamlines organizational systems and processes for enhanced safety and quality of patient care.
