Patient Teaching Brochure
Medical Assistants, upon a doctor’s order, will provide patient education regarding diseases, testing and diagnostic procedures, medications. You have to develop a trifold brochure for either hypertension, diabetes, food allergies, any cardiovascular condition or weight control as a patient teaching document. 35 points
PS: The assignment will be available from Jan 9th and due on Feb 19th at 11.59 PM.
Submit in on Canvas a typed handout (trifold brochure) that should address the following:
- What is the disease or condition (pathophysiology of the condition)? How can it be prevented?- 5pts
- What is the etiology, signs and symptoms of the disease/condition? (Include pictures, diagrams, flowcharts as needed, for better understanding of the disease) 5 pts
- How is it diagnosed? What tests or procedures might the patient expect? –5 pts
- What treatment options exist?- 5 pts
- What lifestyle modifications may be indicated in terms of diet, exercise, etc to maintain health ?- 5 pts
- What are the sources and/or websites which you have referred to create the patient teaching brochure? If resources have not been cited then your assignment would be considered as plagiarized. Usage of correct grammar, spellings, punctuation-5 pts
- The handout should be a trifold pamphlet with information typed on a word document or google docs. Students can find a lot of internet resources and templates of how to make a trifold document. Handwritten documents, uploaded pictures of the document or all the information typed on word document like an essay or final paper will not be accepted. The format of the handout is your choice; however, think about handouts that you may have gotten from your doctor’s office. How easy was it to read (this a patient teaching brochure so keep in mind not to use medical jargon), locate information and so forth? Was it too crowded or hard to find the info that you wanted?
