There are always complications that arise as a result of diabetes among the expectant mothers. This study seeks to explore the impact of diabetes and the risk that it has among the expectant mothers. In other words, the study aims at examining the blood sugar level and the impact that it has to the maternal mothers. The main topic of the study is the Perception of Nursing Students on Effectiveness of Training-A Case Study on Red Cross Hospital, Silchar. Nurses often require effective training process to ensure that they are competent when it comes to the actual training process. In most cases, nursing student tend to gain experience after continuous clinical practices. However, in some cases, nurses still lack elaborate experiences after the clinical practice. The broad topic of the study is the quantitative analysis of nurse’s perceptions on evidence-based practices. The application of evidence-based practices in different healthcare settings requires the involvement of nurses and other healthcare professionals. However, in some cases, nurses often have different perceptions when it comes to the operational processes in different environment. The study therefore attempts to highlight the perception of nurses when it comes to the application of evidence-based practices.

Population of Interest for the Study The population of interest in the study include expectant mothers who are diabetic. The respondents were identified from different health centers. Only diabetic participants were considered in the process of the study. The process of sampling was carefully done to ensure that only the relevant respondents were contacted. The population of interest in the study were the nursing students from their first year of bachelor programs. The selection of the participants was limited to students only, those taking different programs in the nursing. In most cases, nurses have different perceptions on the type of training that is being used. The population of interest in the study nurses and other healthcare professionals from different healthcare institutions. Only the healthcare professionals were involved in the study.

 

 

Sample The sample size used in the study was 100. In other words, a total of 100 participants were recruited to take part in the study. The study participants were expected to answer questions set in the questionnaires so as to enhance the collection and validation of data. The sample size was 56. In other words, a total of 56 study participants were recruited to take part in the entire process of study.

 

 

 

The sample size was 195. In other words, 195 nurses were recruited in the process of the study. The respondents were sampled from various healthcare settings.
Sampling Method Simple random sampling was used to identify the study participants. The respondents were randomly selected from the identified population of the expectant mothers from different healthcare institutions.

The identified respondents were then presented with the questionnaires with set questions depicting variables in the study. Stratified sampling method was used to identify the study respondents. Random sampling method works if there is an equal chance that any of the subjects in a population will be chosen. Researchers choose simple random sampling to make generalizations about a population. Major advantages include its simplicity and lack of bias. Among the disadvantages is difficulty gaining access to a list of a larger population, time, costs, and that bias can still occur under certain circumstances. As noted above, simple random sampling involves choosing a smaller subset of a larger population. This is done randomly. But the catch here is that there is an equal chance that any of the samples in the subset will be chosen. Researchers tend to choose this method of sampling when they want to make generalizations about the larger population.

Radon exposure is the second leading cause in lung cancer. Exposure to both smoking and radon increases lung cancer risk. Second hand smokers (SHS) have a higher risk of lung cancer with the exposure to radon. Public awareness is lacking on the combined risk of exposure to tobacco smoke and radon. This is why it is important to motivate people to have healthy homes, free of both radon and second hand smoking.

The term second hand smoke is a combination of gasses and fine particles of burning tobacco such as cigarettes, cigars, and pipe tobacco also known as sidestream smoke (CDC, 2013). Second hand smoke consist of exhale tobacco particulars from the original person or people smoking the tobacco product this is known as mainstream smoke according to the CDC. The sidestream tobacco smoke contains roughly 7,000 different chemicals that can be harmful to a nonsmoker and an estimated 70% of those chemicals can lead to cancer (OSHA, 2009). Side stream smoke has a higher concentration of cancer causing agents known as carcinogens. This type of chemicals can be deadly to non-smokers when the levels of second hand smoke is consumed over a period of time.

Second hand smoke has been associated with lung cancer and some studies have linked second hand smoke to breast cancer (ACS, 2014). Researchers have shown second hand smoke may be linked to lymphoma, leukemia, and brain tumors in children. In the year 2009 parents who were associated with secondhand smoke during their pregnancy were linked to a rare form of cancer starting in the uterus. The chemicals in secondhand smoke showed an increase in breast cancer. Asthma related symptoms such as bronchitis and respiratory infection were linked to second hand smoke in non-smokers.

A ratio variable is a quantitative variable measured on a scale such that ratios of values of the variables are meaningful and there is an inherently defined zero value.
