End of Week 2 Announcement!
Class, today marks the last day of week 2. This week we focused on descriptive statistics and
measures of central tendency. Your descriptive statistics in Excel assignment is due today. As a
reminder, there is a post at the top of Topic 2 DQ 1 titled "Week 2 Assignment Details/ What do
you need to know" to assist with this. If you have any questions, please ask!

The central location within a set of data is identified by a single number that serves as a measure
of central tendency, which aims to describe the set of data. The term "measures of central
location" is occasionally used to refer to measurements of central tendency. The term "summary
statistics" also applies to them. There are other measures of central tendency than the mean (also
known as the average), such as the median and the mode. However, the mean (also known as the
average) is probably the one you are most familiar with. The mean, median, and mode are all

acceptable measures of central tendency, but in some situations, one measure of central tendency
is more useful than another. The mean, median, and method of calculation are discussed in the
sections that follow.
In order to answer important public health issues and eventually enhance health and reduce
illness, these statistical methods are ultimately used to define health situations, events, or
behaviors in our communities. In addition to the average or mean, summary measurements may
also contain the median and the mode. Because the same summary measures may be used to
describe quite distinct data sets, it is crucial to examine summary measures in conjunction with the
whole data set in order to fully comprehend our data.

Hello Francys,
Great explanation on the measures of central tendency and the importance it has on pubic
health. I agree in regards to  statistical methods  having a great impact when used to define
health care situations, such as COVID-19. The spread of COVID developed rapidly worldwide

and the various statistical  data analysis and implication were used for the prevention and
control of COVID-19 worldwide (Wang, P et al., 2020)
