Health promotion in a community requires collaboration between healthcare providers and other
stakeholders to ensure that the health needs of the population are addressed. The nurse is
responsible for identifying problems that plague the community, coming up with solutions to the
problems and performing specific actions to help alleviate the problems. Stakeholders that the
nurse can partner with include community elders and leaders, corporate institutions that operate
within the community, non-profit organizations with keen interest on the community and other

hospitals and healthcare institutions (Melo & Alves, 2019). The role of the nurse includes drawing
the attention of stakeholders to the problem thus encouraging community participation in problem
solving. Sensitization can include workshops and using flyers and other materials to communicate
the need for participation in problem identification and solving. Moreover, the nurse is tasked with
assessing the community to help understand the nature of the problem and factors that increase
the susceptibility of the community to the problem. In addition, the community nurse helps provide
a structure and framework within which the stakeholders can participate in community health
promotion activities.
Appraising community resources is essential since the assessment enables nurses to know what
can help in the quest for health promotion. Non-profit and religious resources in the community are
an important asset since they ae able to provide support to the interventions and initiatives created
to combat problems in the community (Alves et al., 2021). Support can include aid in mobilization
of resources that are required in the process of problem solving, advocating for the recommended
interventions and even eradication of barriers to the selected interventions. Moreover, the assets
can help in profiling the community and deciding what to prioritize in health promotion.

Hello Francis, very good your publication on the subject, and I agree with you, that the
promotion of health in a community requires collaboration between health care providers and
other stakeholders to ensure that health needs are addressed of the population, and this is
precisely where the nurse plays a very important role, according to the digital resource offered
by Grand Canyon University, The nurse is key in providing health promotion strategies in all
care settings. As attention shifts to preventive measures, the nurse's role in health promotion

education is expanding rapidly. The nurse values the patient and implements evidence-based
practice (EBP) while assuming each role and providing health promotion measures to patients
and the community.

Great post Francis. Nurses are key in assessing and guiding the plan of care for communities.
There are organizations directly involved with the community. For example, organization such
as alcohol anonymous (AA) supports communities by assisting people with drinking problems.
The meetings and support provided by this organization helps individuals recover and remain
sober. This helps decrease the rates of drinking under the influence of alcohol. Nurses can
best help communities by partnering with these key stakeholders involved in the community
that can assist in promotion of health.
