Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I had to take the class online, but it was just as effective as being in person. I signed up for the confidenceinbirth.com online course. I could see a prerecorded lesson that Sharon Bottomley from confidence in birth presented about childbirth. The address of her personal office is 6654 Blewett Ave, Lake Balboa, CA, 91406. This session is designed to help moms find their hidden talents and get them emotionally, psychologically, and physically ready for pregnancy and motherhood. A population of numerous expectant moms and single mothers who required assistance during the newborn stage benefited from the confidence in birthing practice. Parents who weren’t Hispanic made up the majority of attendees. According to their website, her practice offers a variety of professional services; however, there aren’t many of them mentioned (About Lamaze Classes, n.d.). They provide evidence-based birthing classes, Lamaze childbirth classes, and breastfeeding classes. She also offers in-person or online lactation consultations, according to the moms’ preferences. The instructor of the class I was taking focused on how to manage discomfort, the labor process, breathing techniques, and how to soothe others. It was a private session with only the instructor and the expectant parents, and they were both quite kind. She made her own introduction before asking the parents to do the same. The purpose of the program was to impart knowledge on the healthiest and safest procedures for giving birth. The session concentrated on teaching dynamic relaxation methods and breathing to reduce labor and birth anxiety for the participants and their Lamaze partners. The Lamaze class sought to replace our pessimistic assumptions about pregnancy and the labor and delivery process with confidence and coping 3 abilities (Class, n.d.). The class started with a discussion of the anatomy of a pregnant woman. The classes then proceeded to the labor phases. Additionally, issues related to pregnancy and delivery were covered. A video about natural delivery using Lamaze methods was shown as part of the lesson. The expectant mothers were then instructed to sit on yoga mats on the floor for around 30 minutes while practicing the suggested breathing exercises. The lesson was incredibly informative, and I learned much about labor and childbirth. I had no trouble getting to the lesson because the video was available online, and I had no trouble with transportation. Issues. I was able to take a look at pictures of her private practice located in Lake Balboa, it does look nice and updated from the inside. From the pictures, it looks like it is a normal-sized practice. Since I wasn’t able to go to her private practice, I was unable to observe how they converse with one another on the inside. Given that some mothers may be forced to have a caesarian section; the program should also emphasize these births. Given that both natural deliveries and Caesarean sections are options for pregnant mothers, the class should provide equal attention to both (How Lamaze Today Is Different from the Lamaze of the Past, n.d.). When having a caesarian section, women who have taken training on natural childbirth may experience frustration and anxiety, which might be harmful to their health. Additionally, raising awareness of caesarian sections would assist in normalizing the process and prevent women who have had them from feeling less capable as moms. 4 References About Lamaze Classes.
