The three variables selected included alcohol consumption, stress and social events. The variables have linear relationship as evident in the research conducted among 11 college students.

- Specify which variable is dependent and which are independent.

For the selected variables, the depended variable is alcohol consumption while the independent variables are stress and social events.

- Collect the data for these variables and describe your data collection technique and why it was appropriate as well as why the sample size was best.

The study participants were randomly selected and the data obtained used to explore the correlation between the variables. Both the independent and dependent variables were measured in terms of frequency on weekly basis.

- Find a linear model of the relationship between the three (or more) variables of interest.

The relationship between the three variables can be explained in the following equation:

Y=bX+ɑ. Therefore the linear model is as following

Alcohol consumption=-0.359 stress level + 0.342

- Explain the validity of the model.

The correlation found is 0.8 with 0.00% significance. From the findings, there is a significant linear relationship between the variables; though, the external validity is limited and thus the findings cannot be generalized to the population (Khorsan & Crawford, 2014). The conclusion is that the alcohol consumption behavior among students is influenced by stress and social events and parties.
