Methodology Ensures that research moves from bench to bedside. Uses highly controlled settings to ascertain that basic research like epidemiology and laboratory research are translated into clinically relevant regimes, understanding, and diagnostics that can be applied to humans. (Hsu, Clyne, Wei, Khoury & Lu, 2019). It is a systematic investigation of phenomenon where one collects quantifiable data and performs computational, mathematical or statistical techniques (Brannen, 2017).
The data obtained is then used to predict the future of the phenomenon or to make the necessary changes. Quantitative research offers the basic research required in T1 research to test for clinical effects and applicability.Goals To test whether research findings derived from basic research offer any clinical impact or can be used in clinics (George et al., 2019).
To come up with interventions and treatments and act as a bridge between basic findings and clinical settings. To generate numerical data that can quantify a problem, formulate facts and uncover patterns (Brannen, 2017).

Both have clear goals with T1 research aiming at testing the clinical impacts of research findings and quantitative research aiming at uncovering patterns and formulating facts.
Data Collection The research uses phase I clinical trials, phase II clinical trials, observational studies and case studies to generate the required data (TRCN, 2018). Data is collected using sampling techniques, questionnaires, surveys, interviews, systematic observation and longitudinal studies (Brannen, 2017). Both use observation as a method of data collection.

T3 goals are specific with the aim of being achieving a system-wide change whereas quantitative research is not and tries to answer a hypothesis.

Data Collection Follows activities and studies like implementation research, diffusion research, phase IV clinical trials and dissemination research (TRCN, 2018). Data is collected using sampling techniques, questionnaires, surveys, interviews, systematic observation and longitudinal studies (Brannen, 2017). The data collection methods used by both types of research ensures that data is computed into substantial results.
