This is to bring into your attention that registered nurses are undercompensated based in the kind of services that they offer at the organization and the experiences that they have. In many cases, women are not as effective at bargaining for increase in wages as men; as a result, they often suffer in silence despite their advanced level of education and the increasing responsibilities that they must always undertake (Jarrín, Kang & Aiken, 2017). Most healthcare organization have taken a step to renegotiate the payment system based on the experiences and the level of education (Bacon & Stewart, 2017). However, it appears that your organization is making any arrangement to discuss the registered nurse salaries.

It has been argued that women are not as effective at bargaining for wages as men. Since most nurses are women (even though

numbers of men are increasing), it is possible that nurses remain significantly underpaid given their education and responsibilities. As in everything, the more prepared we are to accurately discuss salaries, the more effective we will be as a profession.
Over the years, we have witnessed the increase in patient ratio and a reduction in the ancillary support staff with low morale. With all these changes, we feel that we are not being paid well at all for what we do. I am aware of many professions, white and blue collar that receive more remuneration than we do and no lives hang in the balance. Nurses are doing a lot of work with no breaks, bad working condition, and increasing number of patients with inadequate compensation. I therefore urge the organization, led by the administration, to consider reviewing registered nurse’s salaries and remunerate them on the basis of experience, level of knowledge and the amount of work assigned to them.

Write a letter to the Chief Financial Officer at your institution (or previous institution if you are currently unemployed) making a case that RNs are undercompensated. This letter is NOT to be mailed either via email or USPS.
Support your assertions in the letter with data/information that you found in the articles.
Include in the letter what you feel the fair market value of RN’s services should be.
