Title: Assignment: Locating Credible Databases and Research
Evidence-based practice in nursing plays a critical role in the promotion of care outcomes such as safety, quality and efficiency. Patient falls is one of the critical issues that require the use of evidence-based interventions to promote the health and wellbeing of the patients (Stiel et al., 2019). Patient falls predispose patients to adverse outcomes such as injuries, prolonged hospital stay, increase in costs of care, and mortalities. Evidence-based interventions such as hourly nursing rounds, bed alarms and risk assessment of patients are effective in preventing and minimizing the risk of patient falls (Chu, 2017).
In this assessment, the scenario focuses on a newly registered nurse who does not understand the evidence-based interventions used in preventing falls among patients in the setting. The assessment examines the communication strategies to assist the newly registered nurse and sources of online data that can be used to inform their practice.
Communication Strategies
Effective communication strategies are essential in encouraging the newly registered nurse to research the interventions and strategies to collaborate with others in accessing the resources. One of the strategies is open communication where the preceptor encourages free sharing of information about the ways of accessing resources of evidence-based data. Open communication builds trust and honesty among the nurses. The preceptor also demonstrates respect and honesty in the communication (Stiel et al., 2019). They recognize the difference in backgrounds and understanding of the nurses, hence, adopting interventions that promote inclusivity. The preceptor also uses skills of effective communication such as active listening to understand the critical needs of the nurses and effective interventions for use in addressing them.

Best Places to Complete Research
One of the best places that the newly registered nurse can utilize to complete research on the clinical issue of patient falls is the TRIP search engine. The TRIP search engine is a tool that enables scholars to search simultaneously multiple databases for evidence.
The search engine provides access to sources of scholarly evidence such as systematic reviews, meta-analyses, evidence-based guidelines, national guidelines, and studies conducted to examine various issues related to clinical practice and management. The best approach to obtaining credible and relevant sources of data through the TRIP search engine entails the use of keywords from the PICOT statement. The nurse can use the hospital or university library to access the engine and search the sources of evidence they need for their practice.
Sources of Online Information
The five credible sources of online information that can be accessed through the TRIP search engine include CINAHL Complete, PubMed, UpToDate, Cochrane, and EBSCO. The databases provide evidence-based sources of data ranging from journals, guidelines, to national practice guidelines for clinical practice and management of different conditions. The above sources of online data provide the best evidence because their sources of information are peer-reviewed. They also contain current sources of evidence on different aspects of healthcare practice. The fact that the sources of data are up-to-date makes them a critical source of information used for making informed decisions in clinical practice.
Assignment: Locating Credible Databases and Research Conclusion
Overall, evidence-based practice is important in nursing practice. Nurses play a critical role in facilitating the development of competencies in evidence-based practice among those they work with in their settings. Professional databases provide great opportunities for accessing the global sources of evidence-based data. Therefore, hospitals and learning institutions should provide their staffs and stakeholders with the support they need in accessing and translating evidence into practice.

Title: Assignment: Locating Credible Databases and Research
Introduction
This paper will identify communication strategies a head or senior nurse can use to help newly trained nurses conduct evidence-based research about varied patient diagnoses. Furthermore, the assessment will provide guidance on how to evaluate credible sources during the research process and recommend what criteria should be considered when selecting quality information from those sources. This focus is particularly pertinent in the present scenario of a new nurse assigned to care for a patient with a diagnosis unfamiliar to them and exhibiting disturbed sleep patterns.
Communication Strategies
Providing patient-centered care based on best practices is imperative to positive patient outcomes. As the nurse manager, our goal must be to support and equip the novice nurses in our organization to find these best practices. I will communicate with this new nurse by first stressing the significance of research for providing the best care for patients, particularly in the case of a disturbed sleep pattern (Dumedah, 2021). Then I would offer encouragement and assistance by introducing ways he or she can access resources, such as scholarly articles or peer reviews – suggesting they reach out to specific bodies or organizations working in this field if needed. Knowing that it may seem daunting, I will provide a detailed guidance around steps they should take, such as searching keywords and using relevant criteria to give them a starting point and making sure they feel supported so they get the best outcome.
Resources
If a nurse is seeking to find research relevant to a patient’s disturbed sleep pattern in order to provide the best care, there are several excellent resources that I would recommend. First, medical journals are always an invaluable source of information and offer detailed analyses of current treatment approaches and outcomes. Additionally, clinical guidelines databases such as UpToDate and Dynamed Plus are recommended as they provide high-quality evidence-based recommendations for clinical decisions and best practices tailored to the individual patient’s conditions (Dai, 2022). Finally, reliable online libraries such as the National Institutes of Health’s Pubmed can also provide guidance for nurses designing an evidence-based assessment plan. To help this nurse with his/her research process, I would suggest organizing all resources found into an effective literature review. This will enable them to gain a broad understanding of the subject matter in question with respect to best practices in health care in a concise manner. Being able to read these materials from start to finish with an eye toward finding what works will be invaluable for providing the best care for this patient (Miller et al., 2021).
Five Sources Of Online Information
As a nurse, it is imperative to stay up-to-date on the current trends in evidence-based practice and to provide the best care for patients. Guiding a fellow nurse in finding resources that can be used to assist with a disturbed sleep pattern diagnosis is part of an important duty. Fortunately, there are plenty of online information sources available to nurses. These databases include medical journal databases, websites, hospital policy databases, public health authority databases, and professional association resources (Oermann et al., 2021). Examples of five sources that could assist a new nurse in locating evidence are MEDLINE published by the National Library of Medicine, EPOCRATES for evidence-based decision support in clinical practice, UpToDate referencing peer-reviewed journals and guidelines from regulatory bodies, Cochrane Library from systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials, and ClinicalTrials.gov registering publicly and privately supported clinical studies. With all these armaments available to them, nurses have plenty of research that can be utilized for positive patient outcomes.
Having access to the most reliable, up-to-date information is essential when it comes to providing the best care for a patient with a disturbed sleep pattern. Online sources are therefore invaluable for healthcare professionals in terms of acquiring accurate evidence-based research (Fan et al., 2022). It is important to select online sources that have been peer-reviewed and adhere to rigorous standards to ensure that they provide trustworthy and high-quality content. Regulatory bodies, government agencies, and professional institutions can also be valuable resources since they offer impartial opinions, current guidelines, and helpful advice from leading experts in order to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Conclusion
By encouraging newly trained nurses to confidently research their patients’ individual diagnoses, head and senior nurses ensure they are able to provide the best possible treatment and care. By carefully selecting the most appropriate online sources, this nurse will be able to access the latest research and utilize it to develop an effective treatment plan.

Be advised that I grade based on quality and not necessarily the number of words you post. A minimum of TWO references should be used for your initial post. For your response post, you do not need references as personal experiences would count as response posts. If you however cite anything from the literature for your response post, it is required that you cite your reference. You should include a minimum of THREE references for papers in this course. Please note that references should be no more than 5 years old except recommended as a resource for the class. Furthermore, for each discussion board question, you need ONE initial substantive response and TWO substantive responses to either your classmates or your instructor for a total of THREE responses. There are TWO discussion questions each week, hence, you need a total minimum of SIX discussion posts for each week. I usually post a discussion question each week. You could also respond to these as it would count towards your required SIX discussion posts for the week.
I understand this is a lot of information to cover in 5 weeks, however, the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. Even in times like this, we are encouraged by God’s word that we have that ability in us to succeed with His strength. I pray that each and every one of you receives strength for this course and life generally as we navigate through this pandemic that is shaking our world today. Relax and enjoy the course!
