A Sample Answer For the Assignment: Assignment EBP Proposal- Section E: Implementation Plan

Title: Assignment EBP Proposal- Section E: Implementation Plan

The proposed evidence-based intervention will be undertaken in our hospital. It will be done in the mental health department where the target population for the intervention will be obtained. The potential subjects will be African-American patients utilizing mental health services in the unit. The patients will be suffering from major depressive disorder and are on antidepressant treatment. There will be a need to obtain consent from the subjects. As a result, they will be provided with information related to the proposed intervention. Information on the potential benefits as well as risks of the intervention will be provided for the subjects to make informed decisions. The method of selecting the subjects will be based on convenient sampling. The subjects will be assigned conveniently to either treatment or control group. The treatment group will receive antidepressants plus psychotherapy while control group will receive antidepressants only. The consent form that will be administered to the subjects will be attached to the final paper at the appendix section.

The maximum time for the proposed evidence-based intervention is 12 months. This period is enough to allow for the implementation of the intervention and follow-up of the patients to determine the effect of the treatment. It is also adequate to allow for the determination of whether the observed outcomes are due to intervening factors or the effect of the intervention. The following is the anticipated timeline as well as activities that would be undertaken at different stages of intervention implementation.Assignment EBP Proposal- Section E Implementation Plan

Resources Needed

The success of the proposed evidence-based intervention will depend on the availability of the needed resources. One of the resources is adequate number of staffs. There should be adequate staffing to ensure that quality data is collected from the subjects. There is also the need for adequate time. Time is needed to administer the intervention, follow-up, and determine the accuracy of the obtained data. Computers and mobile phones are also needed in the project. The computers will be used for data storage and analysis. Mobile phones will be needed for undertaking follow-up of the patients. There will also be a change in the clinical processes. The nurses and other healthcare providers will have to ensure that the subjects are provided with the right treatment according to their assigned group. The following is a resource list for the intervention.

The data for this proposed evidence-based intervention will be collected using structured questionnaires. The questionnaires will contain both open and closed-ended questions. Questionnaires are appropriate for this intervention because they will allow the

acquisition of detailed and diverse data from the subjects. Open-ended questions will allow the participants to express questions that might have been left out in the questionnaire. The questionnaires will be self-administered as well as administered over the mobile phone during the period of follow-up. The complications and symptoms of the disorder will be determined using depression rating scale. The scale will not only provide information on the complications and response to the treatment but also the cognitive deficits associated with the treatment and the disorder (Wikberg et al., 2017). The instruments for obtaining the data for the proposed intervention will be included in the appendix of the final paper.

The proposed evidence-based intervention is a change in itself. It will require adoption from not only the subjects but also the healthcare providers too. It is therefore important that interventions that aim at raising the level of awareness of the adopters are embraced (Harvey & Kitson, 2015). This will include the provision of training to the healthcare providers on the intervention (McCormack & McCance, 2016). The healthcare providers will be trained on the administration of the intervention and the collection of the needed data. As shown earlier, the intervention will target African-American patients with major depressive disorder. The subjects will be identified and assigned to either the treatment or control group. The subjects assigned to the treatment group will receive antidepressant plus psychotherapy treatment. Those in the control group will receive antidepressants only. The method of sample selection will be convenient sampling. This is a method where the subjects are selected based on their availability, willingness to participate, and their ability to meet the inclusion criteria (Alvi, 2016; Meeker, Hahn & Escobar, 2017). The subjects will be followed for a period of one year to obtain data related to the effect of the intervention.

Data Collection and Management Plan

The nurses working in the mental health department will administer the intervention. They will also collect data from the participants during their visits to the clinic. The nurses will also undertake follow up via the phone calls to determine the effect of the treatment. The data will be kept in a cloud database to ensure its privacy and confidentiality. The identity of the subjects will be kept anonymous by assigning them identification numbers rather than using their names. Data analysis will be done using descriptive statistics to determine cause-effect relationship of the intervention. The interpretation will be done with a focus on the outcome measures of the intervention. The data collection tools that will be used in the proposed intervention will be attached in the appendix of the final paper.

Strategies to Deal with Challenges, Barriers, and Facilitators

One of the strategies to deal with anticipated challenges or barriers is close monitoring of the implementation process. Close monitoring will allow for the identification and resolution of any barriers to the success of the process. It will also provide insights into success factors that should be incorporated into the intervention. The other intervention will be the provision of regular, up-to-date feedback to the involved stakeholders. This will help them explore any additional interventions that need to be embraced for the success of the implementation process. The unit nurse managers and mentors will also lead the implementation process. They will assist the staffs and subjects in embracing the behaviors that are needed for the success of the intervention. Small wins will also be rewarded. The staffs will be rewarded for their cooperation throughout the period of intervention to motivate them to dedicate themselves in ensuring the success of the process. Lastly, training will be provided depending on the concerns raised by the staffs to ensure that incidences of resistance to change are eliminated.

Feasibility of the Implementation Plan

It is projected that the proposed evidence-based intervention will be financially sound. Its financial needs are within the abilities of the organization. Therefore, the following is the proposed budget for the intervention.

I strongly encourage that you do not wait until the very last minute to complete your assignments. Your assignments in weeks 4 and 5 require early planning as you would need to present a teaching plan and interview a community health provider. I advise you look at the requirements for these assignments at the beginning of the course and plan accordingly. I have posted the YouTube link that explains all the class assignments in detail. It is required that you watch this 32-minute video as the assignments from week 3 through 5 require that you follow the instructions to the letter to succeed. Failure to complete these assignments according to instructions might lead to a zero. After watching the video, please schedule a one-on-one with me to discuss your topic for your project by the second week of class. Use this link to schedule a 15-minute session. Please, call me at the time of your appointment on my number. Please note that I will NOT call you.

Please, be advised I do NOT accept any assignments by email. If you are having technical issues with uploading an assignment, contact the technical department and inform me of the issue. If you have any issues that would prevent you from getting your assignments to me by the deadline, please inform me to request a possible extension. Note that working fulltime or overtime is no excuse for late assignments. There is a 5%-point deduction for every day your assignment is late. This only applies to approved extensions. Late assignments will not be accepted.

If you think you would be needing accommodations due to any reasons, please contact the appropriate department to request accommodations.

Plagiarism is highly prohibited. Please ensure you are citing your sources correctly using APA 7th edition. All assignments including discussion posts should be formatted in APA with the appropriate spacing, font, margin, and indents. Any papers not well formatted would be returned back to you, hence, I advise you review APA formatting style. I have attached a sample paper in APA format and will also post sample discussion responses in subsequent announcements.

Your initial discussion post should be a minimum of 200 words and response posts should be a minimum of 150 words. Be advised that I grade based on quality and not necessarily the number of words you post. A minimum of TWO references should be used for your initial post. For your response post, you do not need references as personal experiences would count as response posts. If you however cite anything from the literature for your response post, it is required that you cite your reference. You should include a minimum of THREE references for papers in this course. Please note that references should be no more than 5 years old except recommended as a resource for the class. Furthermore, for each discussion board question, you need ONE initial substantive response and TWO substantive responses to either your classmates or your instructor for a total of THREE responses. There are TWO discussion questions each week, hence, you need a total minimum of SIX discussion posts for each week. I usually post a discussion question each week. You could also respond to these as it would count towards your required SIX discussion posts for the week.

I understand this is a lot of information to cover in 5 weeks, however, the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. Even in times like this, we are encouraged by God’s word that we have that ability in us to succeed with His strength. I pray that each and every one of you receives strength for this course and life generally as we navigate through this pandemic that is shaking our world today. Relax and enjoy the course!
