The role of nurse case managers in the modern world cannot be underscored. They play a critical role in utilizing active collaborative processes in the planning, assessment, facilitation, coordination advocacy, and evaluation of care. They explore the available services and determine whether they can address the healthcare needs of the vulnerable. The increasing need for case managers has seen them practicing not only in their states but also across their borders. As a result, the consideration of the need for licensure of case managers engaging in cross-border provision of their services was implemented. Therefore, it proves necessary to explore implications of compact licensure on case managers’ role, position paper by the CMSA, and my position regarding the nurse compact licensure.

The compact licensure will have a significant effect on nurses in case managers. Firstly, the licensure provides nurses working as case managers with significant flexibility to provide their services in different states. It does this by eliminating the complexities that case managers have to address when working in multiple states. In this case, they can work freely in different states without having to apply for licensure in the states that they provide their services to those in need. The implementation of the proposal implies that all states will have access to a database for the case managers. The CSMA supports the adoption of multistate compact licensure. According to it, case managers are professionals that engage in collaborative processes that aim at optimizing the efficiency of services available to them. Their services can be utilized across borders.

As a result, they have the abilities to provide their services to patients beyond their states of licensure. It ensures the use of evidence-based practices in providing case management services within and across borders. The licensure also ensures that public safety is promoted. It holds nurses in case management responsibility and accountable for their decisions and actions (Roux & Halstead, 2018). Therefore, it not only ensures that professionalism in case management is upheld but also the protection of the rights and safety of the patients and other vulnerable populations.

The compact licensure also promotes professional competency in case management among the nurses. The nurses in case management have the opportunity to work in different states providing their services. This builds their professional experiences, thereby, building the competencies they have in addressing the diverse health issues facing the publics. These competencies also enable them to utilize their experience in providing holistic care to their patients (Skinner & Almaden, 2019). Therefore, the flexibility that they achieve with the adoption of the legislation not only increases their geographical locations of care but also builds their competencies in address different health issues affecting the American population.

I also support the compact or multistate licensure for case management because it presents an opportunity for transforming healthcare policies. The nurses in case management in the different states will have the opportunity to change the interstate policies with the adoption of the compact licensure policy. For instance, the member states will be required to participate in bi-annual meetings where they will review the policies of the compact. This implies that inputs from the different states will have to be considered, thereby transforming the nature of case management. Nurses in case management will also have the opportunity to express their ideas, concerns, and recommendations on the ways in which goals of case management can be achieved with ease across the states (Skinner & Almaden, 2019). Therefore, this makes it evident that compact licensure will provide the case managers and states the opportunities to influence policies that guide case management.

I strongly encourage that you do not wait until the very last minute to complete your assignments. If you however cite anything from the literature for your response post, it is required that you cite your reference. You should include a minimum of THREE references for papers in this course. Please note that references should be no more than 5 years old except recommended as a resource for the class. Furthermore, for each discussion board question, you need ONE initial substantive response and TWO substantive responses to either your classmates or your instructor for a total of THREE responses. There are TWO discussion questions each week, hence, you need a total minimum of SIX discussion posts for each week. I usually post a discussion question each week.
