State Organizations • Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO)  National nonprofit organization representing state-level public health agencies in the United States.  Primary function is to track, evaluate, and advise members on the impact and formation of public or private healthy policy that may affect them and to provide them with guidance and technical assistance on improving the nation’s health. • National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL)  Bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staff of the nation’s state and territories.  Provides research, technical assistance, and opportunities for policy makers to exchange ideas. Local Programs • Programs established through organizations (such as the YMCA) or by the city health departments. • Implemented to specifically address health issues within a defined area.  DC Greens works to bridge the gap in the local food system to ensure that all the residents of the district can afford fresh, local fruits and vegetables.  Richmond City Health Department offers programs that address adolescent health and teen pregnancy prevention
