Title: NRSG 410 Unit 1 – Discussion Board 2

To reduce their risk of chronic illnesses and improve their health, Healthy People 2030 aims at helping individuals in consuming the appropriate amounts of nutritious foods such as fruits, whole grains, and vegetables (Brach & Harris, 2021). The goals for healthy and nutritious eating also include assisting people in consuming the necessary amounts of vital nutrients like potassium and calcium. Another goal of Healthy People 2030 is to assist people of all ages to engage in enough muscle-strengthening and aerobic activity to improve their health and general well-being (Santana et al., 2021). Additionally, Healthy People 2030 also aims at increasing preventative care practices among individuals across all age groups. Both adults and children need services like routine screenings, dental exams, and immunizations to stay healthy. I haven’t achieved all of the above goals, like the majority of people. For instance, I rarely exercise and consume fast foods high in calories most of the time. Also, I don’t remember scheduling regular checks and screenings like cancer screening or dental services.

It will be vital to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle to promote my health and prevent complications like diabetes and heart disease.

I’ll center my meals on starchy carbohydrates with more fiber, such as whole-wheat pasta, or potatoes that still have their skins on (Riccardo Valentini et al., 2019). Moreover, I’ll consume every day at least five pieces of a variety of fruits and vegetables. I’ll need to consume less sugar and saturated fat. To improve my physical fitness, I will engage in at least 150 mins of moderate aerobic activity on an average weekly, which might be as simple as walking vigorously for 30 mins five days per week. I’ll also engage in two days a week of squats and other muscle-building exercises (World Health Organization, 2018).To support my preventive care practices, I will also create an adherence aid with all the dates for each hospital visit, set reminders on my phone to encourage my adherence, and access adequate health-education information online regarding all the routine screening tests for my age group and gender.
